SVELAV Friåkning 2 / Freeride 2

This advanced training course focuses on tour planning and risk management. It involves daily trip planning, preparations, and avalanche risk management, tailored for recreational skiers and snowboarders. The course emphasizes understanding avalanche forecasts, identifying avalanche problems, and effective tour planning and preparations. Participants will also learn about group communication, decision-making, gathering and prioritizing information, and making safe route choices in the mountains. The goal is for participants to be well-prepared to plan and conduct their own ski tours and off-piste skiing after completing the training. Additionally, the course includes expanded training on avalanche rescue.

Note that I run this course for four days instead of three. The reason is an additional day in the field and some flexibility with the weather.

Language

The course is run in English, Norwegian or Swedish. The course material is in Swedish, but an Avaluator tool in English (from Canada) can be purchased for NOK 200 per person.
