This four-day course provides basic avalanche training for outdoor work in mountain environments. Emphasis is placed on recognising avalanche terrain and managing avalanche risk from a workplace perspective. It includes examination components for avalanche terrain and companion rescue. The training consists of both theoretical sessions and practical outdoor activities. Topics include
  • Avalanche and weather forecasts
  • Dasic snowpack observations
  • Snow stability assessments
  • Search and rescue
  • Reporting avalanche occurrences and accidents

The courses is held in English or “Svorsk” - a mix of Norwegian and Swedish.
Prerequisites are training in first aid equivalent to at least three days, including CPR and hypothermia. Solid skiing skills off-piste are recommended. Participants should also have practised transceiver searches before the course.

Note that I also offer this course in >>combination with a wilderness first aid (WFA) course that fulfills the Pro 1 prerequisites.
