About

I’m a certified ski guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG), currently based between Trondheim, Norway, and Tbilisi, Georgia. Originally from Germany and raised in Austria, I’ve lived and worked in various places across the globe. Since 2012, I’ve been guiding ski tours in Northern Norway, as well as in Japan, Siberia, and the Georgian Caucasus. I hold a Level 3 Avalanche Technician certification from the Canadian Avalanche Association and am also an instructor with Sveriges Lavinutbildningar (SVELAV). My background also includes ski mountaineering, with several first steep ski descents in the Caucasus, Pamirs, and Tian Shan ranges (check www.ps-photo.net for images and stories).

After several years of full-time guiding, I shifted focus to contribute to more sustainable and livable cities. I’m currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Architecture and Design at NTNU Trondheim. My research—“Street networks as determinants of active travel: application, evaluation and development of network-based measures and methods”—explores how urban street design influences everyday mobility choices like walking and cycling. This academic work has deeply influenced how I plan and lead tours, how I travel, and the partners I choose to work with. While I don’t actively promote this aspect, I’m always happy to share insights from both a personal and scientific perspective when we meet.

Due to my university commitments, I guide fewer trips—but this allows me to focus on small groups with personalized goals and experiences.
