Guided Ski Touring in Norway & Georgia
SVELAV Avalanche Courses

Guided Ski Touring

I am a certified ski guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG), an avalanche technician (CAA Ops Level 3), and a SVELAV avalanche course instructor, based in Norway and Georgia. I guide ski tours in Northern Norway and the Georgian Caucasus, focusing on Arnøya, Kågen, and Skjervøy (Arctic Norway), as well as Kazbek / Mkinvartsveri (Georgia). These are regions where I have pioneered many ski routes, and, after years of ski guiding worldwide, they remain my favorite skiing destinations. Additionally, I also guide in Skjomen and Narvik, another Scandinavian favorite.
I specialize in guiding small groups and individuals, prioritizing flexibility while maintaining the highest level of professionalism.

SVELAV Avalanche Courses

This season, I am offering avalanche courses through Swedish SVELAV (Sveriges Lavinutbildningar) instead of the Canadian AST. The quality remains the same, only the name has changed—the format and course content are still similar. The course materials are continuously updated and developed to ensure the best possible training. Currently, I offer Freeride 1, Freeride 2, and PRO 1 courses.
New this season are also combined SVELAV + Wilderness First Aid (WFA) courses in several locations in Sweden and Norway.
I have been teaching avalanche courses in Norway and Georgia since 2015, all of which have consistently received 5/5 ratings. Courses take place either in Åre / Snasahögarna (Storulvån) or Narvik, depending on participants' locations, with Georgia available upon request. All courses are taught in English or Norwegian.

Mountain Photography

I am also a ski alpinist and mountain photographer. My ski expeditions have taken me to the Andes, Caucasus, Tian Shan, and Scandinavia, where I have completed several first ski descents. Images from these journeys have been published in magazines such as Alpinist, Black & White Magazine, Schwarzweiss, and the American Alpine Journal.
A selection of these images is presented here, as these expeditions played a fundamental role in shaping my passion for the mountains before I became a professional guide. More images can be found at   www.ps-photo.net

What guests have to say

This guy is.The. Real. Deal. I had the pleasure of taking my AST 1 and 2 with Peter this winter and not only did he provide an incredible depth of knowledge and insight, but also an incredible experience in the process. He understands the risk and reward in exactly the way that you want your guide and instructor to. Seriously cannot recommend Peter enough!

Just completed a combined AST1 and AST2 avalanche skills course with Peter and it was excellent. Peter is a very knowledgeable and experienced avalanche professional who can explain the subject in an interesting and understandable way. He is great at getting people involved in decision making and management of travel in avalanche terrain. Peter went way beyond what could be expected and worked hard to ensure he could deliver a great course, despite having to change the location from Norway to Georgia (due to lack of snow in Norway). Peter is passionate about avalanche skills, skiing and the mountain environment from both a professional and personal perspective - his enthusiasm is infectious and he is a great guy to spend time with.

Just spent 6 days with Peter north of the Lyngen Alps in Arnoya and Kagen, part of a group of 6 Austrian ski touring aficionados. He delivered the right balance between challenge and pleasure for us all. Peter’s trademark is an intense focus - on the dynamics of the snow, the mountains and the capability of the group. He is passionate about building creative routes, ideally with fresh tracks & the right touch of adrenaline. No better choice for a guide than Peter with an academic knowledge of avalanches, local expertise in his home terrain in Norway & Georgia, and an eye for adventure!
